so i have always loved plants. i love planting them... i love growing them... i love watching them grow.
my dad helped my build my own garden when i was a junior... and i maintained it, i had peas and corn and strawberries and tomatoes and spinach and some other stuff, it was fun. and i always get to do my moms flowers on the front porch. and i am proud to say that i have even saved a few plants from certain death and revived them and brought them back to their full glory.
haha... its kinda dorky, but i can totally see myself as a crazy old lady.... with lots of plants, cats and wind chimes. for reals.... and i will have a garden... and big floppy hats. it will be a good life. and i will be a cute old lady- just you wait and see.
anyway. i was home over christmas and there is this huge plant that i transplanted from my moms bathroom a few months ago... at it has seriously exploded!! its a beautiful plant... its just one of those standard house plants, im not even sure what they are called... but i loved watching it grow! i would get so excited when the new leaves started opening... i showed kelsey once, i think she laughed at me. but its so exciting to see these new green waxy little leaves opening and growing!! kelsey killed the plant that was in her room, so i took a few clippings from that huge plant and theyve been growing in kelseys room since [as long as she is keeping them in water... are you kels?] and when i was there for the baby and grandpas birthday i checked on them and they had started growing roots! and i was so excited... and i showed kelsey... and i think she mighta laughed at me- again. lol. but it made me happy. :)
okay... so for the point of the story: mom bought me one of those itty bitty little pots that have the seeds and the soil all ready to go. she got me strawberries this time... there were only like 6 seeds in the package so i was a little worried that i wouldnt get any to grow... and i put it by my window... which is cold... and i didnt think that would help, but i still gave it a shot. and! on friday one tiny little strawberry seedling sprouted!! i am so excited!! it definitely made me smile! so thanks mama, for making my day!
* if you look real close you can see it... sorry its a little blurry, the other girl has the canon... so this is just with my little camera. but still! how cute is that!?
and i think i need to buy more plants for my apartment. we need some living things in here... i have my bamboo which i love! but maybe i should get some more plants... it would be fun!! have you ever seen those moss gardens? i found some on etsy.com [like this one...click here] ...and they are the coolest little things ever! i love them... maybe someday i will have to buy one of those, or learn how to make one. i wouldnt have any idea how to make one, or what kind of moss to get, or where to get it... maybe i should start working on that! :)
but still... i love my little strawberry plant!! thanks mama!!

I have a big floppy hat you can borrow! Even though I'm pretty sure you made fun of it on the cruise!
That is the cutest little sprout I've ever seen! You should do a little herb garden! Then you could grow stuff and use it too! We'll talk more about this! Love you!
You've always had a green thumb. By the by, did you know the javelinas came and knocked over our big blue pot from out front? It was kind of an expensive pot since it was so big. Don't know what I'll do about plants by the front door. If they are low, the bunnies eat them (and the pigs). Hmmm.
that is so cute! when you were taking to me i thought you meant you had a strawberry in that little pot! haha... blonde moment i guess!
and yes i keep water in it! it's still going strong! but i probably won't do anything with it until you come home again! haha hopefully it will be ready by then! haha
