so... once upon a time i got "amazing live sea-monkeys" for my birthday from my great friend, nicole. [click here to see what they used to look like.] it has been almost 8 months since these little boogers were "born." i sure did get a kick out of them... for some strange reason i had always wanted sea-monkeys. now it looks pretty gross, and i dont feed them very often at all... and yet, there are still little babies popping up every now and then. right now there is 1 adult and 2 or 3 little babies. and there is about a quarter-inch of dead sea-monkey remains on the bottom... kinda gross. and yet im having this little debate in my head that goes something like this...
"wow. that looks really gross... you need to flush em' or something."
"i know, i know... but there are still amazing LIVE sea-monkeys in there."
"dude. it doesnt matter! its freaking nasty now."
"i know! but i cant just kill poor, little [almost microscopic] sea-monkeys!"
"you're being ridiculous."
sigh. what's a girl to do?

{voting and other fun}
so... this is the first time i have really voted... i've sent in my absentee ballot a few times, but tonight i actually went to the place [well... the library] and stood in my little booth and bubbled in my vote... granted, there were only two propositions, but i totally did it! high five to me! :)

hahaha.... :)

you can kind of see king monkey in this one ^ ... see his big antennae things?
::on another note... remember those little turtles nicole and i rescued? [these ones?] well... they are seriously getting huge. im happy theyre finally healthy and happy and growing. but theyre crazy little boogers... and pretty soon we're going to have to get a bigger tank!

::
and also... my sea monkeys are seriously the weirdest little creatures i have ever seen... theres this one with really big antennae or whatever they are. i call him king monkey... i tried to get a good picture, but my poor little camera doesnt do well with super close super little subjects... anyway. theyre 3 months old now... and still alive. can we all say "wow?"
hahaha.... :)

{the amazing live sea-monkeys}
according to the official sea-monkey website "sea-monkeys® are a true miracle of nature. they exist in suspended animation inside their tiny eggs for many years. the instant-life crystals, in which the eggs are enclosed, preserve their viability and help to extend still further their un-hatched life span! sea-monkeys are real time-travelers asleep in biological time capsules for their strange journey into the future!"
ive always wanted to grow sea-monkeys... in fact it is on my to do list on my blog, haha. for my birthday, nicole gave me my own sea-monkey kit... and i cannot tell you how very fascinating these little things are!
you have to let the water sit out till its room temperature, then you add packet 1 which was the water balancer... then you wait another day then you add packet 2... which is the "instant-life crystals" and then almost immediately you have these crazy little specks swimming all over the place... you wait till day 5 to feed them and once you do that, these little boogers [which are actually a hybrid species of brine shrimp] start growing like crazy! then you feed them a little bit of the contents of packet 3 every couple days... its so easy and so stinking fun! :) oh and apparently they can grow up to 3/4" long... and can live for 2 years! holy poop, right? hahaha...
i seriously love these things... they are so pooping funny!
so this is how i started it...

and these are the amazing live sea-monkeys today!

weirdly fascinating little creatures.
